2023 - A month away & NO ideas yet

Another year of everyone doing their own thing. Jenn & Troy concentrated on getting the house & yard decorated.

Lilly came to us & requested we have a Halloween Party like we used to do, with the annual showing of 'It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown', 'The Nightmare Before Christmas', & 'Hocus Pocus' on the projector in the yard. So we're trying to make that happen.

2022 - Halloween Starts Falling Apart This Year

Another year of everyone doing their own thing. Jenn & Troy concentrated on getting the house & yard decorated.

We're still waiting to see what Tristan comes up with for Halloween. Roman plans to repurpose last years armor, to be a Gladiator. Lilly gave up on completing her Howl's Moving Castle costume, due to her busy Theater & Work schedules. She has no plans now.

In this final week before Halloween Troy's childhood buddy, Glen & his Wife Michelle, were in town. We gathered for a BBQ & a dinner night out for Mom & Torrey's Birthdays.

For Halloween Night, Troy & Jenn will relax in the driveway by a pumpkin-lit fire & hand out candy! I'll post a final summation after Halloween Night hits!

2021 - Dungeon of the Beetlejuice

Lilly loves Beetlejuice the Musical & has opted for her own iteration of the Ghostest with the Mostest. The original plan was for Roman, Tristan, & Troy to don their own Dungeons & Dragons characters. But as usual, that changed as costumes developed. Tristan quickly became a Templar Knight. Roman's Gladiator eventually became an Orkney Warrior, so Troy transitioned to his old Orkney Armor as well. Jenn has become part of the front yard decor, as she's skeletonized for the holiday. For the kids, it was Girl Scout, Boy Scout, Karate Studio & School Dance Costume Parties. Meanwhile Troy & Jenn setup for Halloween Night, every Saturday Evening. Sitting out by the fire & passing out candy to any brave enough to forge into the covid-ridden landscape.

2020 - Night of the Flaming Pumpkins

Another year of Individualism, as each kid went their own way. Tristan was a Plague Doctor & Roman was Anakin Skywalker. Lillianne designed & built (with help from Mom) her Negasonic Teenage Warhead (X-men/Deadpool). Mom & Dad were Gnomeo & Juliet.

As many dropped their typical Halloween Festivity Plans, the Stepp Family kicked it up a notch! We hit a small Halloween Party & went way overboard on the front yard decorations. The kids got to do some Trick-or-Treating around the neighborhood, for the Boys' FIRST year going out without Mom & Dad. Meanwhile, Mom & Dad sat in the yard with the firepit, filled with Flaming Pumpkins & awaited kids in search of candy. Of the 4 kids we got, three of them were Ours... hehehe. Maybe next year!

2019 - Fear the Reaper, M.I.B., The Flintstones, & Some Crazy Anime Chick

Yet another year of Individualism. Tristan has decided to give the Grim Reaper a try. Roman is all over the Men In Black. Lillianne has designed & built (with help from Mom) some crazy, suicidal chick from one of her freaky anime thingies. Mom & Dad are going stone-aged - Fred & Wilma Flintstone.

Lilly got a chance to go off & trick-or-treat with friends. The boys stuck with Mom & Dad, we hit the usual neighborhood that closes off either end of the street for a massive Halloween gathering. Then we hit a friend's Haunted House.

2018 - A Night of Assassins, Cowpoke, & a Broken Doll

Another year of Individualism, as the boys went with assassins. Tristan was a Ninja & Roman was Mr. John Wick. Lillianne designed & built (with help from Mom) a broken China Doll. Mom & Dad were Cowboy & Cowgirl. Amazingly, the most difficult part was finding toy guns, here in the people's republic of Kalifornia.

We blew off school carnivals this year. The kids went to a Halloween Party at their Karate Studio, & us adults went to a friends' house for the usual Halloween party.

2017 - The Wizardry World of Harry Potter

This year we embraced the kids' love for Harry Potter. Lillianne & Tristan had "tested" as Ravenclaw & decided to go with it. Roman stuck with Gryffindor. Jenn was Professor McGonagall & Troy was supposed to be Hagrid (cut couldn't justify the funds it would have taken, with the recent replacing of his truck & phone), but ended up wearing his Incredibles jersey. The kids wore their costumes to a Halloween Sleepover at their Karate Studio, then we went to a friend's neighborhood where they close off the street for Trick-or-Treating.

2016 - The Three Musketeers

This year we managed to all agree on a single Halloween Costume Theme - The Three Musketeers!

Roman as Porthos, Tristan as Aramis, & Lilly as Athena (Athos).

Troy as Cardinal Richelieu & Jenn as Lady de Winter.

2015 - Every Stepp for themselves

Another year of failed Costume Unity. What started out as The Avengers became:

Tristan as a Minecraft Creeper, Roman as a Dinosaur Reaper, & Lilly as Mal from Disney's Descendants.

Mom & Dad stuck with the plan, as Captain America & Black Widow.

2014 - Neighborhood Parties

Well, we had all agreed on a single theme this year - How to Train Your Dragon 2. But individuality (& a lack of free time) took over.

Tristan was Optimus Prime (Transformers), Roman was (the comic version of) Wolverine, & Lilly was the cutest little Witch. Jenn & I went old (sca) school & wore garb (we cheated). I wore armor for one party & went pirate for the other.

Aside from the bigger Halloween Carnival at the kids' school this year, we attended a few Neighborhood Parties. Scouting has really opened us up to some great quality people, & having lots of fun this year.

2013 - New House

This was our first Halloween in our new Home. We got an early start on the kids' costumes & had them all set by the first of October. Lillianne prepped for her "candy-coma" as Vanellope Von Schweetz (from Wreck-it Ralph). Roman donned the Red, White, & Blue as the First Avenger, Captain America. Tristan was the lone Cowboy, in his duster & spurs. Jenn & I dug up old costumes to reprise our roles as Hercules & Megara.

Jenn worked the Halloween Carnival at kids' school. While I attended the carnival in full armour. We then headed south for a Halloween Party in SD. Unfortunately, Roman became sick Halloween afternoon, so I stayed in with him while Jenn & the remaining kids went to a party down the street & trick-or-treating with the neighborhood friends.

2012 - Kids Go Rogue

We had started planning to do Brave. But when it came down to it, everyone had their own thoughts. Lilly switched between her Ariel dress & her Ballerina costume. Roman stuck with his Fireman's costume. Tristan switched between a Pirate & his Cars (nascar driver) costume.

We enjoyed Halloween Carnivals at Lilly's current school as well as her new school down the street from the new house. We also managed to Trick-or-Treat just about the entire apartment complex. Needless to say, kids were passed out in sugar-comas all over the apartment.

2011 - Phineas and Ferb

Phineas & Ferb was the theme for this year. Roman was Phineas, Tristan as Ferb, Lillianne IS the brother-busting Candace, Jenn is Mom (Linda Flynn-Fletcher), and Troy is the Evil Dr. Heinz Doofensmirtz. We kept it simple, with some trips to pumpkin-patches, the Pumpkin Train, trick-or-treatin' in the complex, & a Halloween Party at the Clubhouse.

2010 - Toy Story 2

During our "Year of Disneyland", we skipped on Mickey's Trick-or-Treat Party. And with adults not being allowed in the gates in costume, Jenn & I had to be tricky with our costumes. Tristan was to be Woody & Roman was to be Buzz Lightyear. But come actual Halloween time, they switched. Lillianne was Jessie. Jenn took on Tour-Guide Barbie (they made her remove the hat at the gate, but she put it back on in the park). Troy's costume was overly simple, where he added his "Al" of Al's Toy Barn nametag once in the park.

2009 - Alice in Wonderland

This year we went with Alice in Wonderland. Mom made the boys TweedleDee & TweedleDum costumes. Lillianne was Alice, Mommy was the Queen of (my) Heart. And Daddy donned "The Hat". The highlight of the holiday was our first trip to Mickey's Trick-or-Treat Party. What a great time, Lillianne was even pulled from the audience to dance in the Parade.

2008 - The Princess & the Peas

For the boys' first Halloween, they became the Pea Pods. Lillianne wore her favorite Princess Dress. Mom & Dad dressed in white with signs "Ye Very Olde Matress" for Daddy, & "Ye Young Matress" for Mommy. After trick or treating in our complex, we went to Autie Torrey's for food, fun, & the neighborhood haunted House.

2007 - The Little Duckling

The next year, Lillianne was The Little Duckling. She got to go Trick-or-Treatin' with Tyr.

2006 - It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

For Lillianne's first Halloween, Jenn made her a pumpkin. Troy shaved his face clean & donned the Charlie Brown shirt. Jenn took the football and became Lucy. We spent the evening at a house party in OB.

2005 - Tink & Hook

Captain Hook & Tinker Bell made way for Downtown San Diego & The Gaslamp District. We started at a house party overlooking the happenings on the street. After a while we headed down to a party at one of the Gaslamp's theatres.

2004 - Hercules & Megara

We were Hercules & Megara that year. We cruised up to Hollywood for a special Halloween screening of "Nightmare Before Christmas" at Disney's El Capitan Theater".

2003 - Pirates Ahoy

It was Pirates Ahoy this year, as we set sail for the high seas. This was a busy Halloween, the year of the big fire. We did the Brotherhood Halloween Party on The Star of India. The next night was quite a large house party.
